Karen Shakman is an award-winning, published architect with a multinational background in architecture and interior design. Her experience spans numerous projects in both her native Brazil and the United States. This diverse background enables her to solve design challenges across a variety of socioeconomic and cultural contexts, bringing to the creative process a wealth of innovative and bold design propositions.

In addition to her training in Architecture and Urban Planning, Karen’s bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design has been instrumental in generating creative solutions for many projects, particularly in interior design. Her research-based academic background allows her to apply evidence-based design protocols at all stages of the design process, streamlining decision-making and building business cases based on scientific data and outcome-driven results.

Since immigrating to the United States in 2000, Karen has earned her architectural registrations in California, Utah, and Arizona, along with LEED and EDAC accreditations and a Master of Science in Design from Arizona State University. She continuously expresses her creativity by rethinking, reinvestigating, and reinterpreting project details, while maintaining efficiency and precision in the design process.
