Karen Shakman is an award-winning and published architect with a multinational background in the field of architecture and interior design. The scope of her experience involves numerous projects both in her native country of Brazil and in the United States. This diverse background enables her to “problem-solve” through a variety of socioeconomic and cultural scenarios, bringing to the creative process a plethora of innovative and bold design propositions.
In addition to training in Architecture and Urban Planning, her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design has been instrumental towards generating creative solutions for many projects, specifically within the field of interior design. Her research-based academic background enables her to apply evidence/research-based design protocols in all phases of the design practice while streamlining decision-making processes and building the business case for project delivery processes based on scientific data and outcome-driven results.
In 2000 Karen immigrated to the United States and since then she has obtained her California, Utah and Arizona Architectural Professional Registrations, LEED and EDAC – Evidence-Based Design – Accreditation and Certification, and a Master of Science Design Degree from Arizona State University.
Karen expresses herself by rethinking, reinvestigating and reinterpreting all of the project details and possibilities while still maintaining high efficiency in the creative process.
